INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW
Children under 3 years of age are accommodated at no charge. Children from 3 to 12 years of age may share with adults at 50 % of the adult rate. Maximum of 2 children per room. Children from 12 years and older, will be charged the full adult rate whether sharing with parents or staying in a separate unit. Babysitting facilities are offered at a nominal extra charge. Prior notice to request this service is essential. Game drives and nature walks can be tailor made for children.
As it is a set menu daily and not a la carte, please inform the reservations office in advance should any special dietary needs be required. If you have any children travelling with you kindly provide us with their ages to provide the apropriate portions.
Prior to arrival, guests should notify the reservations office of any pre-existing medical conditions. This includes any allergies etc. The reservations office should be informed in advance of any physical disabilities. This is essential as elephant access may not be possible and appropriate accommodation and vehicle seating facilities are limited.
On arrival guests are requested to sign our standard indemnity form.
All rates are quoted gross, in Rands and are inclusive of VAT, full board and accommodation Adult rates are quoted per person per day, sharing in twin or king-size accommodation.

  • 100% of fee if cancellation less than 7 days prior to arrival
  • Under no circumstances can the lodge refund or transfer unused bed-nights caused by cancellation due to flight or airport delays, sickness and any other unforeseen circumstances
  • Transfers are available on request. Please request rates with the lodge.
    Accommodation will be provided at no charge for a guide or driver with a group of ten or more guests, either in camp or in staff quarters at the lodge’s discretion and subject to availability. Guests wishing to ensure their guide accompanies them in camp should book a single tent accordingly. The booking will be chargeable at normal rates.
    For guests not wanting to self drive on a gravel road, we highly recommend that they make use of the transfer option, as there is a 30km stretch of rough gravel road to reach the lodge and we would not advise driving at night.
    As the Eastern Cape is malaria-free, prophylactics are not necessary.
    Road transfers are available to guests at an extra cost. Speak to us about your transfer requirements.

    Check-in is from 14h00 and check-out is before 10h00. We can accommodate special requests if we receive advanced notice.

    If you are delighted with the service given by our staff and would like to offer them a tip, please note that the official policy states that tips are to be shared amongst all Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge staff.

    Often people working behind the scenes (such as the gardeners and ladies cleaning the rooms, scullery or laundry) don’t interact with guests, yet play a vital role in ensuring the enjoyment and success of your overall experience.

    Please do not give tips to the elephant handlers in the field or to any staff directly. Please place the tips in the TIP BOXES provided at the day centre or reception.

    These tips are then distributed by the finance department to ALL staff members. Tips / gratuities can be added, at your own discretion, to your settlement bill / credit card at time of check out.
